A panel-mount charger, not a lighter plug

The CC82 is a flush-mount charger. Instead of pushing into a cigarette lighter socket, it is drilled through the dashboard or the fairing: a 30 mm hole, the barrel pushed through from the front, the lock nut tightened behind the panel. The face then sits level with the surface and a hinged cap seals over it. That is the whole reason this format gets bought — a lighter plug only works where somebody left a socket free, and it works loose on gravel, on a boat, or on a bike.

It is also hardwired rather than plugged in. The supplied harness carries an inline fuse and ring terminals, so the charger takes its feed straight from the battery or from a fused accessory circuit, and the vehicle’s own lighter socket is left free for something else. Input is 12V to 24V, so one part number covers a passenger car, a 24V truck, an ATV, a boat and a motorhome.

Three face styles on one platform

3-port version — QC 3.0 plus two PD ports

One USB-A port marked QC 3.0 / 18W and two USB-C ports marked PPS 33W / PD 30W. The face carries a touch switch with a blue LED, and the switch controls the two USB-C outputs, so those ports can be left dead when the vehicle is parked instead of sitting on standby. Rated IP66, with a splash-proof cap over the ports.

2-port version — with a DC voltmeter, or without

One USB-A at QC 3.0 / 18W and one USB-C at PD 30W with PPS 33W; the factory quotes the pair at 51W. One face style carries a blue digital voltmeter that reads the DC supply the unit is wired to; the other is the plain version of the same body, with a button and no display. The electrical design, the barrel and the mounting are identical, so the choice between them is a choice about the face plate rather than about the fitment.

The factory publishes the range as a 51W platform and marks the face PPS 33W / PD 30W on each USB-C port and QC 3.0 / QC 18W on the USB-A port. Because the headline wattage and the per-port figures both come from the supplier’s own listing, confirm the final output table on the proforma invoice before it goes onto your packaging.

How it installs

Panel mount charger installation: drill a 30 mm hole, screw the socket in, connect positive and negative to the batteryIP66 waterproof panel mount charger with splash cover, over-voltage, over-heat, short circuit and dust protection12-24V panel mount USB charger for car, boat, marine, motorcycle, SUV, ATV and RV
  • Drill 30 mm. A hole saw through the plastic or the metal panel. The face covers 48 mm, so a little variation in the cut is hidden behind the rim.
  • Seat and lock. The barrel pushes through from the front and the lock nut tightens behind the panel — no bracket, and no screws into the trim.
  • Wire positive and negative. Red to the battery positive through the inline fuse, black to negative. The ring terminals are already crimped onto the harness.
  • Close the cap. The hinged splash cover seals the face whenever nothing is plugged in, which is what keeps an exposed dash socket alive in weather.

Body depth behind the panel is 54 mm, so leave at least that much clearance behind the mounting surface. The face measures 48 mm across and the barrel 37.2 mm, and the whole unit weighs 80 g, so it adds nothing to a fairing or a door card.

Protection and weather sealing

  • Over-voltage and over-current protection on the input stage, so a spike out of the vehicle electrics does not reach the device.
  • Over-heat protection that shuts the output down when the board runs hot — the case that matters in an engine bay or a fairing in summer.
  • Short-circuit protection on both outputs.
  • IP66 sealing with a dustproof rating: the face and the port opening are covered by the hinged cap whenever the charger is not in use.
  • The harness carries an inline fuse, so a fault in the wiring does not take the vehicle circuit with it.

Where these get fitted

The supplier’s own application list runs car, boat, marine, motorcycle, SUV, ATV and RV, and the device list is phone, tablet, dash camera, digital camera and smart band. In practice the format sells into three places: motorcycles, quads and side-by-sides where there is no factory socket to use; boat and yacht dashboards, where the charger has to survive spray; and camper, caravan and classic-vehicle builds where an additive accessory socket would look wrong in a finished panel.

OEM and ODM options

The CC82 runs on the factory’s own tooling, so a branded order is a production run rather than a moulding project. Housing colour, logo on the body, the marking on the cap, the printed output table on the face and the retail packaging are all made to your artwork, and the manual can be printed in the language your market needs. The same platform also includes a 20W single-port 12-24V cigarette-lighter plug version, which is quoted on request and is not shown here. Tell the sales team the version you want, the market you are selling into and the quantity per run, and they will come back with unit pricing, the output table, the certification documents for that market and the production slot.

Frequently asked questions about the SUNDA CC82 panel mount car charger

What is a panel mount charger, and how is it different from a cigarette lighter charger?

A cigarette lighter charger pushes into the socket that is already in the vehicle. A panel mount charger is drilled into the dashboard, fairing or boat panel through a 30 mm hole and locked from behind, so it sits flush and stays put whatever the surface is doing underneath. It is hardwired to the battery through a fused harness, which also means the lighter socket stays free.

Which version should I order — the 3-port or the 2-port with the voltmeter?

Order the 3-port if the listing sells on how many devices can be charged at once, or if you want the touch switch that isolates the USB-C outputs. Order the 2-port voltmeter version if the buyer is a marine, RV, ATV or classic-vehicle owner who wants to see the battery voltage on the panel. Both use the same barrel, the same lock nut and the same harness, so a mixed order ships on one carton plan.

Will it work on a 24V truck, a boat or a quad?

Yes. The input covers 12V to 24V, so a passenger car, a 24V truck, an ATV, a boat and a motorhome run on the same part number with no converter.

Does it drain the battery when the vehicle is parked?

The 3-port version has a touch switch that cuts the two USB-C outputs, so the ports are not left on standby. Either way the charger is fed through the inline fuse on the harness, and it can be wired to a switched accessory circuit if the vehicle is stored for long periods.

What does the harness include?

A pair of leads with ring terminals for the battery posts, an inline fuse holder, and two spade connectors for the charger terminals. The wiring is matched to 12V and 24V systems.

Can we have our own logo, colour and packaging?

Yes. Body logo, housing colour, cap marking, face print and retail packaging are all produced to your artwork, and the manual can be printed in your market’s language. OEM and ODM branding runs start at 500 pcs per version.

Related models. The 2-port version with the digital readout has its own page: 12V USB charger with voltmeter. For ordinary cigarette-lighter fittings, the CC76 dual-port car charger covers 20W to 51W, the CC68 series covers the four-port 30W-to-126W platform, and the CC-53 series runs from 48W to 140W. The CC-60 backseat car charger handles rear-seat charging and the CC-62 series covers retractable and coiled-cable models. The full line sits under car chargers.
