Will the suction cup hold on a textured or curved dashboard?
The cup needs a smooth, reasonably flat area — painted dash plastic, glass or a smooth trim panel. Textured, stitched or padded surfaces will not seal, so that part of the dashboard should be avoided or the mount moved to the windscreen.
How strong is 17 × N52 compared with other magnetic mounts?
N52 is the strongest common neodymium grade and 17 magnets is a high count for this price band, which is why the mount can hold a large phone without a cradle. Holding force also depends on the phone or case having a magnetic ring, so a MagSafe case performs better than a bare non-magnetic handset.
Is it MagSafe compatible?
The magnet ring is laid out to the MagSafe pattern at 54 mm outside diameter and 46 mm inside, so a MagSafe iPhone centres itself. Android handsets need a magnetic ring or plate, which we can add to the pack as an OEM item.
Does the ball joint stay where I set it?
